Job Description Summary

The School of Nursing at Husson University in Bangor, Maine, is seeking experienced and visionary academics to assist with the school’s plan to expand pedagogical innovation and evolving practice experiences for Fall 2018.

The School of Nursing is part of Husson University’s College of Health and Education, which also includes the Schools of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Education and Counseling. The University is committed to delivering premier professional programs that emphasize experiential learning, student success and inter-professional education.

The School of Nursing enrolls approximately 80 undergraduate and 25 graduate students per year and offers a traditional BSN, an online RN to BSN track, and a Family & Community Nurse Practitioner degree and certification.

Husson University is a private institution of approximately 3500 undergraduate and graduate students located in Bangor, Maine. It offers Associate, Bachelor, Master’s, and first professional degrees (PharmD and DPT) through its five colleges and schools. Bangor has been ranked as one of the top 50 small cities in the U.S. It offers a safe, affordable community with excellent education, healthcare, easy access to major urban centers, and a wealth of outdoor recreation opportunities. Year round activities can be enjoyed on the numerous lakes, trails, and ski areas. The University is approximately 40 minutes from the ocean and the nearby mountains of Acadia National Park.

Duties and Responsibilities

This is a part-time faculty position with a direct report to the Chairperson for the School of Nursing. Faculty are primarily responsible for 12 credits hours per academic year. Additionally, Husson adheres to the Boyer model of Scholarship with the expectation that faculty will pursue substantive achievement in one of the four scholarship areas.

Education and Experience

To be considered, applicants must be licensed Registered Nurses with a graduate degree in nursing and demonstrated teaching experience in higher education. Preference will be given to applicants with:

• an academic doctorate (Ph.D, Sc.D., Ed.D.) or progress toward a terminal degree
• experience in medical surgical or pediatric practice and simulation
• familiarity with varied instructional delivery methods including online and hybrid or blended formats
• outcomes-based assessment and student success strategies
