Job Description Summary

This is a full-time (12-month) ranked faculty position in the School of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice with a direct report to the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs. The position is for a PharmD with expertise in internal medicine, acute, and/or hospital pharmacy practice. The faculty member is expected to establish and maintain a clinical practice site for students’ introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences, and teach assigned courses specific to his/her area of expertise and as required by the curriculum. In addition, faculty members are expected to fulfill responsibilities in advising, scholarship, and community service as delineated in the Husson University Faculty Handbook and to reference this document for guidance with promotion and multiple-year contract review. Participation in evaluative processes and departmental affairs for the betterment of the School are also an expectation.

Duties and Responsibilities

A Pharmacy Practice faculty member is responsible for carrying a teaching load over a 12-month period. The load is a combination of didactic and experiential instruction that includes establishing and maintaining a viable and relevant practice site where students are assigned for introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences.
Scholarship and Professional Activity:
Faculty members are expected to maintain currency within their professional areas of expertise and to participate in scholarly activities as defined by the Husson University Faculty Handbook which adheres to the Boyer Model of Scholarship.
Faculty members are expected to contribute to and participate in the work of the School of Pharmacy and larger University by serving on committees and attending meetings, retreats, and activities as appropriate.
Student Advising:
Faculty members must maintain student office hours and advise pre-pharmacy and pharmacy students, as assigned, following the policies and procedures documented in the Husson Faculty Advising Manual.

Education and Experience

Education: A minimum of an earned doctorate in Pharmacy Practice (PharmD) and Residency is required. Fellowships, and applicable post-doctoral degrees and certifications are advantageous.
Licensure: Current Maine license or eligible for licensure in Maine
Experience:Minimum of three years of clinical experience in internal medicine or acute hospital pharmacy practice is required. Experience teaching in higher education and/or precepting pharmacy students is desirable.

Physical Requirements

This position has an expectation for occasional travel to conferences and organizational meetings.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
