Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The overall purpose of this job is to cook in Cressy Marketplace. Will also be cross-trained to be able to cover shifts in Willey’s Cafe, when needed. The schedule for this position will vary but will, generally, be an opening shift (6am-11:00am).

Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements
•Cook to order for students, faculty and staff
•Assist with general cleaning chores in the kitchen
•Set up, break down and maintain the line
•Provide assistance with catered functions, as needed
•Provide guidance to student employees
•Be well groomed and wear the proper issued uniform
•Assist with stocking as requested
•Participate in training, as well as other departmental function requirements
•Run cash register and complete end of shift cash-up
-Other duties as needed
-Must have non-slip shoes

Qualifications
•Ability to operate and maintain production equipment
•Basic knife skills, and the ability to grill, sauté, roast, broil, and fry food
•Knowledge of proper/safe time and temperature for food handling
•Ability to operate small kitchen equipment, including Robo-coup, mandolin, mixers, emersion blenders, potato peeler, etc.
•Must have good customer service skills
•Ability to work well independently as well as within a team
•Serve-Safe Certified, or the ability to become certified

Education and Experience

Education:High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience:Six months culinary experience preferred

The employee is also required to occasionally push and pull equipment on wheels that weighs up to 150 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
