Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The primary responsibility of all full-time faculty of the University is the scholarly teaching of students in the courses and sections that are assigned. This is a 1 year appointment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teaching courses in Communications (especially speech) and Developmental Writing in a classroom setting, in the writing center, online, and/or experiential-based settings to deliver course content as well as assisting and supporting students beyond the classroom
• Preparing for class including development of syllabi, materials, and lesson plans, holding regular office hours
• Using instructional technology, especially the Canvas LMS
• Assessing and reporting student performance
• Attending and participating in faculty meetings, retreats, and trainings,
• Attending and participating in orientations, open houses, convocations, commencement and other admissions and student activities as assigned.
• Following the policies and procedures set forth the Husson University Faculty Handbook, Advising Manual and other pertinent documents
• Abiding by policies and procedures outlines in the Husson University Faculty Handbook.
• Performing other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

Education: Master’s Degree in Communications or English required; Ph.D. preferred.

Experience: Evidence of effective teaching in communications and developmental English. Demonstrated dedication to improving classroom teaching, exploring new methods, and adapting to student needs.
Demonstrated ability to work well as a part of a team.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
• Effectively communicate with students and other faculty
• Read and interpret
• Exhibit emotional control and stability
• Mastery of appropriate computer operation skills, learning management system (Canvas)
• Use telephone, email and other university communications systems
• Operate a copier, printer, television, and projector
